Nearly 25,000 households in Queensland's southeast woke up experiencing outages on Monday morning after powerful weather events impacted the region, bringing strong winds topping 109km/h.

Large Frozen Precipitation and Widespread Impact

Homeowners observed large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7 centimeters in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that different parts across Queensland had been affected by large hailstones.

Emergency crews were working to restore electricity service throughout the damaged zones, with nearly 70 crews deployed to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.

Southern State's Storm Challenges

Meanwhile, around 1,000 residents in Victoria also experienced electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area recorded its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.

State Emergency Services received over five hundred emergency reports across the area, primarily for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.

Moist weather were predicted to continue along large portions of eastern Queensland this next several days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the shoreline.

Tomorrow was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with continued severe weather risk anticipated across various areas of both regions.

Safety Concern

Public health experts cautioned that there was an higher risk of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the countryside regions, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
