'Enduring a Horrific Ordeal': Loved Ones of Missing Young People Desperately Seek Information After Ski Resort Blaze

The loved ones of teenagers missing after a deadly blaze at a venue in a Swiss alpine town are enduring an agonising period of uncertainty for answers and pleading for information about their family members publicly.

The blaze devastated the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the Alps of the Valais region, in the early hours of January 1st. Confirmed video reveal the roof structure being engulfed in flames as bottles with fireworks are held aloft.

Authorities have indicated that it could take days if not weeks to formally name the victims of the disaster, which resulted in the death of 40 people and wounded another over a hundred. Authorities noted on Friday that the majority of the injured have been identified, with the process continuing to identify the other six.

In the waiting period, relatives have been posting on the internet to appeal for any news about their missing relatives who were in attendance that fateful night.

Heartbreaking Pleas for the Unaccounted For

The whereabouts of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, a teenager, are not yet determined, according to an public plea from his family.

The resident of a town near Lausanne, explained to a local newspaper that she had gone back to the city to check whether he was in the hospital, while his father did the same in the capital, but was unsuccessful.

"It feels like a terrible dream, a horror. Either I find my son in the morgue, or I find him in a serious state. It's horrific," she told the paper.

She continued that some of his companions had been found with injuries covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's indescribable; they went through an absolute nightmare."

The Italian foreign ministry has said that a number of of its young people have not been located.

Teenage sportsman Emanuele Galeppini, sixteen, was last in contact around midnight on December 31st, his father said.

Among them is Emanuele Galeppini, a 16-year-old promising athlete, who hailed from Italy but now living in the UAE.

The national sporting body has released a tribute that he is no longer with us, without directly referencing the tragedy, honoring a "talented young man who represented dedication and authentic values."

His parent, is quoted as saying that his son was at the bar and was last heard from around midnight. An official spokesperson has indicated that a formal confirmation of his death is not yet.

Additional Missing Individuals

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is also among the missing. His mother told reporters that he had been on holiday but had gone out with a group and ended up at the venue.

"A companion informed me they ran away after the fire erupted and that he had his phone with him, but then at a specific moment he couldn't see him anymore," she explained, adding he had been wearing a distinctive gold chain.

One of his teachers commented, "I remember his good nature and positive demeanor, alongside great responsibility. Every time offer to help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Swiss and Greek nationality but lives full-time in the country, was also present on New Year's Eve, according to reports.

Her brother has posted an appeal on social media, saying the family has had "no information" regarding the teenager or the three friends she was with, who are also reported missing.

Consular authorities from her other nation say they are closely watching the situation.
