Over the course of the show, viewers witnessed murders, double-crosses, serious side-eye, and an unforgettable incident that cut through the overwhelming suspense.

However on Thursday night, the ultimate victor of the first Celebrity Traitors emerged triumphant.

From nineteen participants, only five remained: Traitors and faithfuls competing for the winnings.

Before long, the field narrowed to only three contenders: the final players.

In the end, funny man Alan Carr emerged as the winner, in a surprising outcome that went viral and left him emotional.

"This has been destroying me, I'm so sorry," he exclaimed, revealing to the other players that he was actually one of the deceivers. "I'm an awful human being."

"You did brilliantly," they consoled him. "Everything's fine."

Online platforms immediately exploded with the news. "The worst deceiver being the best traitor ever," wrote one user.

"There could not have been a better conclusion," stated a different person, while someone else described it as "the television highlight of the year."

The organization he selected, Neuroblastoma UK, will receive the entire winnings, with the total amount reaching eighty-seven thousand five hundred pounds.

The comedian's evolution from giggle liability to strategic player was among the most memorable aspects of the series.

However, his victory still shocked viewers in shock, as noted by entertainment reporters.

"The idea of Alan, of all people, executing a masterclass in deceit felt about as likely as him keeping composure through his comedy routines."

"To be honest, I began the competition as something of a nervous wreck. I've betrayed some really good friends to save myself, I've eliminated national treasures openly. Apparently I'm more deceptive and traitor than I believed."

Meanwhile, another contestant commented that reaching the conclusion was "significantly more pressure than playing for a national team", while someone else said he was "completely amazed" to have made it so far.

In the beginning in the episode, various contestants appeared to be making a bid to become the fashion standout of the castle, taking over from an earlier departed fashionable contestant.

Carr emerged at breakfast resembling a vintage television personality in patterned burgundy attire, later switching into a bejewelled white suit.

But he was out-jacketted by a fellow player's burgundy formal wear. Impressive style.

Next up was the competition, with the final players boarding a locomotive called - naturally - The Traitors Express.

The challenge involved ripping up images of former contestants. Spare a thought for one participant who managed to get hit in the head multiple times by the lid of a substantial container.

Soon after, the moment arrived for the roundtable.

Two traitors did a pinky promise beforehand, vowing to stick together. "We've come a long way, I won't throw him under a bus," said one, while the other just giggled.

However, one did stick to his promise. Yet, having slipped unnoticed for the majority of the competition, the other still got the most votes.

The remaining traitor appeared he was in a world of pain to be the final deceiver remaining. "Now I'm on my own, I feel terrified," he said. "I'm unpredictable, a rudderless ship."

Social media and onlookers were equally disappointed.

"I hoped against that player to be eliminated. A truly loveable traitor," said an observer.

"You will forever be remembered in the show's legacy," posted another user.

However, there remained no time to focus on this departure. Soon, the game reached the final stage - this being what we were really all here for.

The last players gathered around the fire pit. And the alliance broke down, just when it mattered the most, in an absolutely shocking development.

A player was painfully banished - after a shock vote from their partner, who turned against them.

"This pains me to be betrayed last minute like that," remarked the ousted contestant. Subsequently, we learned that when they message, the betrayed player refers to their former ally as a traitor.

Ultimately, just three players remained in the game: the last participants.

A contestant, appearing quite pleased, voted to end the game. The same decision was made by a different player, and everything depended on the final participant, who made the identical choice - resulting in the deceiver was the winner.

For observers, the moment where remaining contestants consoled the winner was "compelling television". "I anticipate it could be a contender for outstanding scene at television honors," they commented.

Fortunately, the winner soon recovered from his emotional outburst, and was able to enjoy his victory.

"What a rollercoaster. I thought I was terrible at deception, my expressions gave me away and here I am the champion," the winner said.

He also made light of the memorable elimination - his best friend in an early episode - by reaching over the host in the final scene and making contact.

"There's something on your face," he said, with his trademark giggle.

The last few weeks of celebrity gossiping, plotting and the occasional unexpected moments may seem like one big crazy jumbled dream. But it really did occur. And we will miss it.
